Nördlinger Hütte

The Nördlinger Hütte is owned by the German Alpine Club (Nördlingen section) and is located on the south ridge of the Reither Spitze, 150 m below the summit at an altitude that provides tremendous views.

At 2,230 m, it is the highest mountain hut in the Karwendel and boasts unparalleled views of the Mieminger, Wetterstein, Ötztaler, Stubaier and Zillertaler mountains.

The hut is the starting point for climbing the Seefelder Spitze, Reither Spitze and Freiungsspitzen, as well as for a multi-day hut hike on Karwendel-Höhenweg (https://karwendel-hoehenweg.at)

In a matter of fact the easiest way to go to the Nördlinger Hütte is with our cable cars:

  • Take the funicular railway "Standseilbahn" and the cable car "Härmelekopfbahn" to Härmelekopf (2,045 m). From here the beautiful "Höhenweg" trail leads to the Nördlinger Hütte (2,230 m) and back. Walking time approx 2 ½ hours (moderate difficulty).
  • Take the funicular railway "Standseilbahn" and the cable car "Seefelder Jochbahn" to the Seefelder Joch (2,064 m). From here the route takes you to the Nördlinger Hütte (2,230 m) via the Seefelder Spitze (2,220 m) and the Reither Spitze (2,373 m).
Walking time approx 3 hours – hikers must be surefooted and have good hiking shoes (difficult, partially exposed, ladder). Finally, the route leads to the top station of the Härmelekopfbahn (2,048 m) – take the gondola back to Rosshütte and from there take the funicular railway back down into the valley.
